Instrument of SarangiSarangi is a stringed, short-necked stringed instrument of traditional Indian music - Punjabi folk music, Rajasthani folk music and Boro folk music (also known as sarja) - also played in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Through its ability to mimic vocal ornaments such as gamak (shaking) and mind (sliding motion), it is often said to resemble the sound of the human voice. Sarangi (Nepali) is a traditionally different instrument to Nepal.
It is made of wood and belongs to the genre of stringed instruments. It is played using the upper part of the nail and can be referred to as a complex instrument.
History has it that many believe that this instrument is based on an old folktale. It can be adapted to many folk songs.
